She's back, with a few improvements- I personally like her a lot, but I figured I'd post her for you guys to see. She's almost a complete partial now (I have the head, tail, and handpaws- I just need to do the feetpaws, which shouldn't take more than a few hours), and when she's done I'm planning on wearing her or my first partial for Halloween, since there aren't any cons where I live.
Remember, before you crit- I happen to like this design a lot now with the changes made, so if the business of the maroon and blue swirls bothers you, it's a bit too bad. XD To each their own, right? If there's anything you can point out structurally (Like how to help fix a crooked jaw- I need some help with that one) or something that you think looks wrong in that strain, please say so! :3 (And, again, I really can't do anything with the ears. D: I know they're back too far, but it doesn't look too bad when she's actually being worn.)
Anyway, now I post some pics...
I'm attempting to make a dachshund suit and wanna see how a dropped crotch has helped make a character more elongated.

If no one has bought from them, do you know where a good online place for foam is?
I'm making my furst full suit and need a lot of it for this project, but I don't know what to look for.
Many thanks :).

but I worked slowly on this one and managed something looking more like my character. Definately here for advice, but I do like how it had turned out so far. Ignore the kitty in the second foam head pic (he wanted on the internet XD)

i fixed the nose
found a mesh with much smaller holes for the upward view ports under the eyes
repainted pretty much the whole thing
fiexed the eyes are they were a tad crooked (they do look strait now right?!)
furred the cheeks
replaced the long white fur with shorter fur as it was too fluffy when placed with the body
sooo.....
Before

after

am i the only one bothered by the seam between the black marks under they eyes? i think i need to go in with some short trimmed off fur fibers and dap them on a bit of hot glue to fill in that gap
also i think i should give it some short thin black wiskers on the snout to add to the realisium, what do you think? do i even need wiskers?
does it look better now?
and i should be done with the whole suit in a few days and i cannot wait to show you guys as i am just giddy with how well the paint job came out on the body and it has the best digigrade legs i have done so far
and here is a side view/shot of the mouth just for the sake of it
ah yes i almost forgot
no pipecleaners on this one XD
I started with a balaclava and used mesh to make the moving jaw. Doesn't move that well, but I'm trying to get this done by Friday for Comic-Con, so I don't care too much about the moving functionality.

I need some help on the eyes. What I was thinking of doing was using the needlepoint cloth for the Razor's eyes, since they are pure white, and sticking it under the foam I have for the bridges of his eyes. However, I just found out that my ability to see isn't... too good with that fabric, so now I need to know what else I can do. I already have the black fabric for the "bandana" he wears which I think will look nice once it's sewn or glued to the face. What other fabrics should I be looking for for the eyes? I know a few fabric stores so if I can get the name of the fabric, I can go from there.
I'm happy that I was able to figure out a way to get his signature cheek ruffs that would look good from both the front and the side. Any other comments appreciated! (Other than the "lopsided" cheeks - I'm working on those!)
( Progress pic )
I think its REALLY GOOD and it looks better in person -.- Comment?! :]

I can't find the sort of balaclava that keeps sweat away. I'm looking for one that isn't from ebay.
Any site recomendations would be great.
Thanks!

any ideas? my dad said this was a good idea but it doesnt stop them from possibly slipping off and then just hanging there....
Got a question for you all!
I’m working on a gryphon suit, and have been busy sculpting the beak. I did my test version out of clay, and got it to a reasonably good shape. Here are a couple of shots:
I was planning to make a mold with this, and cast a final beak out of fiberglass, believing it would be lighter. When I talked with my friend who did the casting, however, he told me it would be about the same weight, and this is far too heavy for the balaclava I’m using (seen here with its measly three strips of foam):
I’ve been considering what to make the final beak out of , since it needs to be lighter so as not to pull the front of the mask down, or just to rip away from the balaclava altogether. My biggest concern is the lower part of the beak, that it contacts the mask solidly and would stay in position. This clay one would just hang open all the time, and with an unnaturally sharp angle at that, because of its weight. I’ve been considering both the green upholstery foam as well as this type of white Styrofoam to make the new beak from (yes, it’s shaped like an owl. It will sacrifice its life for a fellow avian):
The stipulations are as follows: the beak must be light but strong, and it must also be resistant to damage by water. I figured that if I used the upholstery foam, I’d have to put paper mache over it or something to make it hard and smooth so that I could paint and seal it... Although I guess I will over the styrofoam as well, because paint wouldn't stick well to that. Or should I use the upholstery foam instead, and use something soft and velvety like Jax used for Lasrach?
Does anyone have any thoughts on the construction and attachment of the beak to a balaclava head? Anything would be greatly appreciated!

Anyway, since it is a skeleton replica made out of plastic, what do you guys recommend for creating gums and the rest of the fleshy mouth bits? If I painted on liquid latex or tool dip would it actually stick and stay on? I'm worried that it would just peel off, if stick at all. I have no experience in casting latex or anything, so I wouldn't know how to go about it any other way (along the lines of latex, that is). Any other suggestions if latex or tool dip wouldn't work?
Also, what sort of paints work best on plastic? From my experience, acrylic just peels right off anything smooth and non-absorbent. Would that paint they use for model cars and whatnot work? (Enamel or something?)

also, how do i attach those to the bottom body? i was thinking glue and reinforce the edges by sewing it with fishing line, which i have handy. any one have a suit who has to use suspenders, even just not for show?

( More under here )
I only have partial suits and I've run into a slight issue - I have a lovely outfit I've bought for my partial Shirik only the front is cut slightly too low and the neckflap doesn't tuck in properly. It DOES cover the fur but the outfit has a tendancy to slide down slightly and expose skin.
Now, to prevent this I have thought of two options:
Option 1: Use a similar coloured fur and attach a piece using snaps in order to extend it temporarily. Preferred method as I intend to have a bodysuit commissioned and don't really want to have to deal with removing snaps from the front of the mask.
Option 2: add snaps to the inside of the costume and the outside of the neck flap, connect together to make a "seal" between the two pieces of fabric so the dress stays up and the neckfur doesn't ride up too high.
Which option do you think would be better? Also, any other suggestions are more than welcome! I have tried simply wearing a tshirt under it to try and just show black fabric underneath (the dress is black and purple) but it just didn;'t look right :\ the fur is literally just a few inches too short so if I added a few inches of a similar coloured fur it wouldn't really be too noticeable, plus I happen to have a long-pile tan colour to hand that I could use.
This is the suit in question
EDIT:
This may make things easier
( Pic under cut )
EDIT 2: problem solved!

Due to the lighting you can't really see the new fur but it does match reasonably well when brushed with the regular fur. I ended up going with option 1 and I think it worked quite well - the snaps are easily removable as well should I not require the strip :)
Alright, one, I need to get a hold of Tiberius so if anyone cna give me her information, I'd appreciate it. Also, if anyone knows if Tamen(Doberman) and/or Raff(I believe a Fox/Racoon) have a journal here, it'd be very appreciated. :D
And shit, I need another one too. This time, the lady I need to contact is a Rottweiler but I can't quite recall her 'tag' but I know her name is Beth. If anyone could help me, it'd be really awesome ;)

after 2 years in storage I am finally (hopefully) going to finish my polar bear. BUT, I need some ideas. I was thinking of adding some sore of clothing/leather to the outfit to ware on the suit. I was thinking of some sort of cross between Native American/mid evil type outfit. I started making some jewelery (earring) & am working on a mock up of some type of leather armor'ish type helm/headdress. & now I'm out of ideas & not sure what type of material to use that is leather like & not expensive. here is what i have so far Tundra now, do you see him more with a staff or sward? or would ether work? I have both. the sward I have is a replica of the original Conan the barbarian's & the staff i have is around 6' with leather wrapped grip with tassels of leather.
any & all ideas welcome. I was hoping to debut him this October if I can get my tail in gear :P
Oh! Also, any thoughts on lining for the body? I may add in some body foam to bulk out a few spots so I'm sure I will need to line the inside. I just do not know what material would make the best lining.
Thanks!
Today I added her eyes, the inner lining to her muzzle, and worked more on her fat suit. Yes, she's a polar bear and huge!
In order to make her look more feminine and cartoony (as I'm trying to) and also to give the white fur a bit of color, I added makeup to her.
She looks as below...
